
Mehmet AK, MD, Professor of Psychiatry
He was born in Bozkır district of Konya in 1976. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in different provinces such as Konya, Amasya, Bursa and Istanbul. He graduated from Gülhane Military Medical Academy in 1999. After his graduation, he worked as a Medical Practitioner in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kayseri for two years. He completed his psychiatry specialization training at Gülhane Military Medical Academy Psychiatry Clinic between 2002-2006. He started his teaching career in 2009, became “Associate Professor of Psychiatry” in 2012 and “Professor of Psychiatry” in 2018. Since 2014, he has been working as a lecturer at Necmettin Erbakan University Meram Faculty of Medicine Hospital Psychiatry Clinic.
He is a practitioner and trainer of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). He was certified as a “cognitive therapist” by the “American Cognitive Therapy Academy” in 2015. He was also certified by the “European Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies” in 2017. He is the executive and coordinator of CBT trainings at the Anatolian Psychotherapy Association. He is still the president of this association.
He has published numerous research articles in his field. He has books published by national and international publishing houses. He is currently the editor of the Journal, Current Research and Reviews in Psychology and Psychiatry. He takes part as an executive and researcher in projects supported by various institutions such as TUBITAK and the European Union.
He speaks English and French. He is married and has two children.
